Due to the simpler design, air-cooled systems are cheaper to install and easier to maintain than water-cooled chillers. For smaller applications, they can also be installed indoors, but for medium-sized to large applications, an outdoor installation is usually more useful. Air-cooled chillers installed outside have direct access to fresh air, which means that the cooling circuit can be sufficiently supplied on a permanent basis.
